Ystävänpäiva = Happy Friend’s Day

Today I received this message from my sister:

“Happy Valentines Day Pet I love you”

It made me smile despite the typo (Pat) and helped to settle my mind about the meaning of love for today.

Just thinking of her taking the time to quickly type a message to me on her smartphone before going to bed to be sure that I didn’t feel alone when I read it in another country thousands of miles away, motivated me to sent out a few messages of my own to women that I care about.

I’m glad I did and I hope that they felt the love conveyed within my individual messages to them.

Today I learned that Finland celebrates “Ystävänpäivä”, or Friend’s Day.

There, close friends will open cards and gifts that they have sent to each other.

Wouldn’t it be a lovely thing to send a message to someone that you care about. You could even pick up the phone to call them just to say why you cherish their role in your life.

Love is not just about Valentine’s and Chocolates with red roses from those who love you. You can decide to make it a day where you tell those women and men who may be a little lonely somewhere in the world that they matter to you.

“Ystävänpäivä”, to you all!

Love, Pat

In this Q & A he shares what lead him to begin the Faces of Santa Ana project. Continue reading “The Faces of Santa Ana”
